Educator Evaluation Implementation Certification form submission
LEAs must submit the APPR Implementation Certification form by August 25, 2023. The form is one necessary component to demonstrate full implementation of your approved evaluation plan for the 2022-23 school year and is used to determine eligibility for an increase in State aid for the 2023-24 school year for school districts only. The Educator Evaluation Implementation Certification form must be signed by the superintendent/district superintendent and board president. The form will be available in late spring and must be submitted through the NYSED Application Business Portal.

The application to offer the Seal of Civic Readiness +1 Civics Pathway is now available for all districts, schools, BOCES, and entities in the SED Monitoring and Vendor Performance System located within the Application Business Portal. The Consolidated Application for ESSA-Funded Programs can be found on the Office of Accountability's website. LEAs must provide private schools with opportunities for timely and meaningful consultation prior to completion of the form. Consultation must address all topics identified on the form. The form MUST be completed by the public school official in consultation with private school officials.
It is important to note that individual LEAs will require private school officials to complete and return this form prior to August 31 since the LEAs must submit their applications to NYSED by this date.

PD8: Suspension Data
The PD8 form collects discipline data for the reporting period July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. The data collected includes counts of in-school suspensions, out-of-school suspensions, and removals to interim alternative education settings (IAES) for students with disabilities ages 3 through 21 for whom the school district had Committee on Special Education (CSE) or Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) responsibility, or for Charter Schools, all enrolled students with disabilities. The form also collects the count of school-age students with and without disabilities who received educational services during expulsion and the count of those who did not receive educational services during expulsion.
Log into the PD Data System (pd.nysed.gov) and select PD8 from the “PD Forms” menu. Enter your data and then save and submit it. If there were no suspensions or removals of students with disabilities during the school year, submit the report with zeroes in the cells. You may also submit data by FTP through your student management system.

New York State’s Dignity for All Students Act provides students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function. The Dignity Act took effect on July 1, 2012 and was amended to include cyberbullying effective July 1, 2013. Please note: All new staff must undergo this training within 30 days of their hire date.

Immunizations cSeptember 2023
Review of Students' Immunizations
Student immunizations are to be reviewed in September. Students who are not in compliance within 14 days of the start of the school year (which may be extended to 30 days for students from out of state) are not allowed to attend school until they meet the immunization requirements. BEDS Day Enrollment and FRPL (Free and Reduced- Price Lunch) FRPL, enrollment by grade, district of residence, and supplemental enrollment counts submitted via SIRS are collected for calculating preliminary State Aid allocations.

Enrollment counts are used to create the USED EDFacts Directory, which is the official directory of all schools and districts for federal reporting, serves as a sampling frame for federal statistical studies, defines the universe for the CRDC, and populates the list of schools used on the FAFSA. FRPL data is reported to USED and used primarily for the Non-Fiscal Survey of the CCD and other USED offices.

Lead Evaluator
The State Education Department requires all evaluators of teachers and principals to be certified through an appropriate training process. Lead evaluators are those who conduct summative annual professional performance reviews of teachers. Each district must certify that these lead evaluators have been trained in the minimum requirements as outlined in the APPR regulations. New administrators participate in a 27-hour, first-year lead evaluator training and those that completed this training participate in a yearly recertification session.

New York State’s law, (Chapter 187 of the Laws of 2019 - known as Erin's Law - requires public schools to teach child sexual abuse and exploitation prevention classes to students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
