Aspiring Leaders Institute

The Aspiring Leaders Institute offers an effective and economical way for highly qualified teachers to become school administrators through a program administered by Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES in partnership with local school districts and higher education.

  • Application Deadline is November 30, 2023
  • Kickoff date: January 10, 2023
  • Sessions begin when colleges go back into session toward the end of January

The second cohort of the Aspiring Leaders Institute concluded its program this year with an in-person, year-end reception held on May 5, 2021, in Homer. This video features highlights of that reception, including remarks from both the group's mentors and mentees about how much growth has taken place among these future school leaders. Standing in the photo, from left to right, are OCM BOCES District Superintendent Matthew L. Cook, Ed.D. with Yanira Stoker; Cincinnatus Superintendent Todd Freeman with Karissa Graham; Marcellus Superintendent Michelle Brantner, the Aspiring Leaders instructor; Patricia Trabucco with Marathon Superintendent Rebecca Stone; and Jennifer Block, Homer Superintendent Tom Turck, and Karen Avery. OCM BOCES Assistant Superintendent Chris DiFulvio facilitated the program for the second year in a row.

Earlier in the year, a kickoff meeting was held in January (via Zoom) to welcome everyone to the program. Here are some videos that highlight this meeting:
