Videoconferencing Services
Videoconferencing assistance is available through the eLearning Service at OCM BOCES. Technical troubleshooting, selecting, purchasing and configuring your equipment are also available to participating districts. Interactive videoconferencing will allow you to bring in content experts from all over the world, and collaborate with classrooms in the district, county, state, country, and the world! Students can also participate in classes being offered by educators across New York State.
VIDEOCONFERENCING BASICS:
We are available to work with your educators to help learn the basics of videoconferencing, creating collaborations for your classroom, and also help with finding content providers to enhance your curriculum. Our program offers workshops throughout the summer as well as during the school year at the district's request.
COLLABORATIONS:
A videoconference collaboration consists of two or more locations connected through interactive videoconferencing to complete a project. The majority of collaborations are free for districts to participate in. Our program helps educators find partner classes as well as offering collaborations created and facilitated by the New York State Distance Learning Consortium. The NYS Distance Learning Consortium also offers Career Connections with professionals such as physicians, disc jockeys, nurses, veterinarians, and many more!
CONTENT PROVIDERS:
Content Provider sessions, sometimes called virtual field trips are also available through the eLearning Service at OCM BOCES. These sessions connect classrooms to museums, zoos, and many other educational resources using videoconferencing. Most sessions are scheduled with a curricular tie and have a lesson plan with pre and post videoconference activies tied to the New York State Standards. Some places that classes can connect with are The Mote Marine Laboratory, The Pro Football Hall of Fame, NASA, The Buffalo Zoo, The Center for Puppetry Arts, and many other exciting places!
COURSES:
Many educators across New York State are opening up their classrooms using interactive videoconferencing to share electives and AP courses with students in other districts.
