Student Profile
Students identified as Deaf or Hearing Impaired. Students with Cochlear Implants needing specialized instruction as well. IQ range varies. Students utilize a variety of communication modes including sign language and oral/aural.
Desired Outcomes
Students will develop academic, social/emotional, communication skills to be successful. Instruction will be based on the student's individual functioning level and will be aligned with the NYS Learning Standards.
Daily Activities
Classroom instruction is based on NYS Learning Standards and the curriculum is provided by the Teacher of the Deaf or in a general education setting with an interpreter, as needed. Students can access opportunities offered by the Solvay Union Free School District. Students receive related services as indicated on the IEP. At the high school level, students have access to Career and Technical Education services, as appropriate, and as indicated on the IEP.
Referral Process
The office responsible for coordinating student services from the student's home district will contact the appropriate BOCES program administrator to begin the referral process.
