Overview of Roles for Project Involvement
This service is intended to assist library–media specialists in their educational function, not to add to their workload. This task definition is intended to help all those involved understand the commitment necessary to make this project work.
School Library System: Provides training and consultation in library-media center collection development, information literacy skills and instructional strategies. SLS will provide materials and Web 2.0 tools and collaborate with LMS (in-district coaching) on collection analysis/development and its relationship to student assessment data.
Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment: Provide training for participants in NYS assessments, curriculum, data analysis tools and skills and instructional strategies. In-district coaching and consulting for participants.
Regional Information Center: Provide access to test reports, dataMentor, COGNOS and other data resources, and updates on trends in data systems. Trainings and in-district coaching and consulting for participants.
Library-Media Specialist and Teacher Partners: Attend workshops, complete tasks between workshops, develop and implement action plan for next steps in collection development, LMC instruction, and develop collaborative lesson plan.
District Administration: (Central Office and/or Principals) Provide logistical support for LMS participants. Substitutes, scheduling modifications, or additional help in the library-media center may be necessary to provide time for workshop attendance as well as for the work involved in the project. Assist with connecting PALS project to other district initiatives.
