Turning Point

Student Profile
This program is designed to support students in grades K-12 whose behavior significantly impacts their ability to be successful in a typical educational program. The students in this program demonstrate poor behavioral skills and are limited in their strategies to affect a positive outcome. Students are typically either ED, LD, or OHI.

Desired Outcomes

  • Students will develop the necessary academic and behavioral skills that will lead to increased independence and educational success.
  • Students will learn to manage their behavior and interactions.
  • To provide students with necessary emotional and behavioral tools to return to a less restrictive environment, to succeed at the highest level of academic success, and/or to reach their goals regarding transition to the workforce.
  • Regents/Local/or CDOC Credential.
Daily Activities
The curriculum is aligned with NYS standards.  Students receive instruction in all core curriculum areas, including special area programs.  Students receive group and individual counseling by a school social worker.

Referral Process

The office responsible for coordinating student services from the student's home district will contact the appropriate BOCES program administrator to begin the referral process.
