Connections 2015:
Connecting Educators & Businesses for Authentic Project-Based Learning
If you are a teacher looking to make "real-world" connections for your authentic learning experience, or if you are a business member who wants to help our classrooms look more like the "real-world," please join us at the Doubletree Hotel for the October 9, 2015, event. The 2nd annual Connections event was held on October 9, 2015. It was a meeting of teachers and business, community, and government contacts who wants to make sure our schools are preparing students to be college, career, and citizenship ready. What happens if you then connect 100 teachers with 100 people from business, government, and/or community agencies? You make connections!
Business leaders described their work, projects and problems. This information provided project ideas and connections for teachers. In turn, teachers pitched their project ideas and received feedback and connection information about those project ideas. At the end of the event, participants received a directory of the businesses and teachers, including work descriptions and project ideas:
Business directory (with contact information)
Teacher directory (with project ideas)
Introductory slides (Jeff Craig)
