Mechanical Maintenance Technician


Mechanical maintenance technician careers offer some of the highest paying and most satisfying opportunities available today as companies increase their use of newer and more complex machinery.  To perform these jobs well, technicians must have higher skill levels in a wider range of technologies than ever before.  Technicians must know how to troubleshoot and repair machinery, how and when to perform routine maintenance, how and when to schedule and deliver preventative maintenance.  They must work to minimize downtime on machinery while optimizing repair time.  Technicians must know how to collaborate with quality control engineers and the manufacturing departments to ensure all calibrations are compliant.  The Mechanical Maintenance Technician program of study provides training in shop math, safety, LOTO, M.S.D.S., fire safety and machine shop safety, hand and power tools, blueprint reading, machine tools, man lifts and fork lifts, maintenance welding, organized problem solving and troubleshooting.  The program includes a 4-week internship assignment.
