The High School Equivalency/TASC Program is designed to serve students who meet the eligibility requirements as described in Section 100.7 of the Commissioner's Regulations. The half-day program is offered at the Henry Administration Building on Thompson Road in Syracuse and Cortlandville Campus in Cortland.
Students transfer from their high school for AM or PM sessions at the Henry Center or the Cortlandville Campus for 12.5 hours of rigorous, standards-based instruction per week. In addition to preparation for the TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion), which replaced the GED effective January 2, 2014, time is devoted to career exploration, job readiness skills, counseling, social skills, coping skills, and problem solving skills. Students are encouraged to participate in Career & Technical Education for the remaining half of the school day, although many prefer to work part- or full-time.
