Juliet: "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."
Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)
A message from Dr. J. Francis Manning , Ed. D. ? District Superintendent & CEO:
With the move to our new Main Campus in April of 2016, many programs housed in OCM BOCES buildings were moved to new facilities. That, in turn, created the need to re-visit our campus names – a process that can be difficult and complicated because of the numerous opinions involved. To address this issue, the OCM BOCES Board of Education created a Naming Committee to explore the matter at length. This committee convened and re-convened over the past year to thoughtfully consider campus names. Please be assured that this was not an easy or hasty process.
In the end, the OCM BOCES Board of Education unanimously approved the following names at its April 27 meeting:
As for the rollout of these new campus names, we would like to use the slower summer months to change letterhead, business cards, web site references, catalogs, flyers and other materials. These new names would then go into effect September 1 to coincide with the imminent start of the 2017-2018 school year. Please contact your supervisor if you have any questions about these new names or how our materials should be changed. Eventually, you will also see new signs at many of our campus locations.
I would like to thank everyone who participated in this process for taking on such a challenging task. I would also like to thank all of you for your patience and support on this matter. I understand it will take time to grow accustomed to these new names and assimilate them into our OCM BOCES vocabulary.
