OCM BOCES New Vision Criminal Justice students win scholarships, recognition
from Onondaga County District Attorney’s Advisory Council
Two OCM BOCES New Vision Criminal Justice program students received $500 scholarships this week at the 53rd District Attorney’s Advisory Council Awards & Scholarship Luncheon at The Oncenter in downtown Syracuse.
Madeleine Brown-Paul, a senior at Tully Junior-Senior High School, and Meghan Ferguson, a senior at Liverpool High School, received the scholarships from Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick.
The District Attorney’s Advisory Council (DAAC) aims to increase knowledge and understanding of crime prevention and criminal justice matters in Onondaga County. The council provides educational programs, a channel of communication between the community and the District Attorney’s Office, and a recognition program for individuals and organizations whose activities have shown “exceptional accomplishments” in furthering the council’s objectives.
OCM BOCES New Vision teacher Kelly Cunningham said she was “thrilled” her students received these scholarships.
“Both Meghan and Maddie have consistently demonstrated remarkable dedication in this New Vision class,” Cunningham said. “Their passion for the law enforcement field is inspiring. I have no doubt they will go on to make significant contributions to the field of law enforcement. Congratulations, Meghan and Maddie! The future of law enforcement is bright, and individuals like you are leading the way.”
