OCM BOCES Regional Summer School Attendance Policy

OCM BOCES Regional Summer School is a program that requires special attention in terms of attendance. The following outlines the expectations for students.

Students are expected to attend scheduled classes and be present for the entire class period. Each student will receive a daily grade that will reflect participation and performance. A student who is absent receives a zero grade for participation and a zero grade for performance for that day and
significantly reduces his/her chances of earning a passing grade for the course. There is no distinction between excused and unexcused absences during summer school. There are no “excused absences” such as illness, vacation, sporting events, camps, court appearances, doctor’s appointments, religious activities, or hospitalization. Accommodations for making up a daily grade (s) will not be available..

Students who are absent more than six school days from a full summer/full credit course (26 days) will be dismissed from Regional Summer School. Students who are absent more than two school days from a half summer/half credit course (13 days) will be dismissed from Regional Summer
School. Two instances of tardiness/early dismissal under 15 minutes will be counted as one absence. Each tardy/early dismissal over 15 minutes will be counted as one absence.
