Tanya Rosado-Barringer

Tanya Rosado-Barringer - Coordinator

Tanya served as an ESL classroom teacher and a Lead Teacher for the New York City Department of Education for the past eight years. She provided technical and instructional support to pedagogues and administrators serving English Language Learners.  Tanya holds a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Hofstra University, a M.A.  in TESOL Education from Lehman College and a M.S. in Educational Leadership from Bank Street College. 

Sarah Peters

Sara Peters - Teacher Trainer

Sara brings extensive experience implementing new K—12 ENL programs for students of varied proficiencies, including ELLs with disabilities, and is well-versed in providing professional development and support on topics such as CR Part 154, Strategies and Resources for Teaching ELLs, Second Language Acquisition, Culturally Responsive Teaching, and NYSESLAT training.
 

Mikian Royer

Mikian Royer - Teacher Trainer

Mikian Royer is originally from upstate New York, but has spent the majority of her 20 years teaching across the country and around the world.  She began her career as a Teach For America corps member teaching second grade in the impoverished Mississippi Delta region. After completing her service, she traveled abroad to teach in Damascus, Syria, Seoul, South Korea and Corinth, Greece.  Domestically she has taught almost every grade level from Pre-K through Adult ED with positions in Norfolk, Virginia, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Conklin and Syracuse, New York, and Fairfax County, Virginia.She has been involved in teaching English as a Second Language for more than 10 years with students of all ages and from all over the world.  
Mikian has an AS in Liberal Arts from Mohawk Valley, a BA in Social Studies from Utica College and an MSed in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta. 

Mandi Sanchez

Mandi Sanchez - Teacher Trainer

Mandi has been teaching ELLs for the last 11 years.  The first 9 years of her teaching experience was in the Utica City School District, teaching ESOL to K-5 elementary students, primarily focusing on grades K-2.  Utica offered a large population of refugee students including numerous SIFE (Students with Interrupted Formal Education).  She then moved up north, and taught ESOL 6-8 for the Indian RIver Central School District.  She was able to effectively use one of the co-teaching models in her time in this district.  Mandi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Italian from Ithaca College.  In addition, she holds a MST in Elementary Education from SUNY Potsdam.  She is NYS certified in Pre-K, K-6, and ESOL K-12.  

Randy Soderman

Randy Soderman - Teacher Trainer

Randy served as a bilingual teacher, ESOL teacher, ESOL Coordinator, ELL Regional Instructional Specialist and Special Services Manager with the New York City Department of Education for 34 years.  She has extensive knowledge about bilingual program implementation, ESOL strategies and methodologies, ELL Compliance and supporting ELLs within the classroom setting.  Prior to coming to OCM BOCES, she served as an ELL Support Specialist in a consulting capacity also in New York City.  Having recently moved to the southern tier of New York State, Randy is very excited about the opportunity to support ELLs in the Mid-state region.

 

Cindy Seeley - Office Manager

Cindy provides administrative assistance, oversight and support of budgeting and technology within Mid-State RBERN. Cindy has served OCM BOCES for over 10+ years. Prior to her role at Mid-State RBERN, Cindy served as an office manager and management liaison for the United States Postal Service and Bryant & Stratton.
