Tanya Rosado-Barringer

Tanya Rosado-Barringer - Coordinator

Tanya has served as Mid-State's RBERN Coordinator for the last four years. Prior to her current role, she served as an  ENL and Integrated ENL teacher in ELA and Social Studies for the New York City Department of Education.  She also served as a Lead Teacher for the NYCDOE in District 10.  Tanya holds a Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism from Hofstra University, a Masters  in TESOL Education from Lehman College and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Bank Street College. 

Sarah Peters

Sara Marley - Teacher Trainer

Sara holds a B.S. in Psychology with a Minor in Education and a M.S. ED. II in TESOL K-12 from Le Moyne College. She has taught ENL at all grade levels and brings extensive experience implementing new K—12 ENL programs for students of varied proficiencies, including ELLs with disabilities. Sara is well-versed in providing professional development and support on topics such as CR Part 154, Strategies and Resources for Teaching ELLs, Second Language Acquisition, Culturally Responsive Teaching, and NYSESLAT training. Currently, Sara is focused on initiating online courses at Mid-State RBERN to support all districts within our region.

Mikian Royer

Mikian Royer - Teacher Trainer

Mikian Royer is originally from upstate New York, but has spent the majority of her 20 years teaching across the country and around the world.  She began her career as a Teach For America corps member teaching second grade in the impoverished Mississippi Delta region. After completing her service, she traveled abroad to teach in Damascus, Syria, Seoul, South Korea and Corinth, Greece.  Domestically she has taught almost every grade level from Pre-K through Adult ED with positions in Norfolk, Virginia, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Conklin and Syracuse, New York, and Fairfax County, Virginia.She has been involved in teaching English as a Second Language for more than 10 years with students of all ages and from all over the world.  
Mikian has an AS in Liberal Arts from Mohawk Valley, a BA in Social Studies from Utica College and an MSed in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta. 

Mandi Sanchez

Mandi Sanchez - Teacher Trainer

Mandi received a BA in Spanish with a minor in Italian from Ithaca College.  She later went back to school and earned an MST in Elementary Education (Pre-K, K-6) from SUNY Potsdam.  Mandi began teaching in 2001 as a substitute teacher, and taught long term positions in First Grade and Kindergarten.  She then got hired as an ESL teacher for Utica City School District in an elementary building.  Utica offered a large population of refugee students including numerous SIFE (Students with Interrupted/Inconsistent Formal Education).  After her first year in Utica, she received her second certification, ESOL K-12.  Mandi spent 9 years teaching in Utica, primarily in K-2, focusing on early literacy as well as English Language Development.  She then went to teach at Indian River Middle School located in Philadelphia, NY.  Here she taught ESL to grades 6-8, with a targeted focus on Co-Teaching with 6-8 ELA teachers for 2 years.  After leaving Indian River, Mandi began working as a Teacher Trainer for RBERN @ OCM BOCES, and this is her third year in this position.

Randy Soderman

Randy Soderman - Teacher Trainer

Randy served as a bilingual teacher, ESOL teacher, ESOL Coordinator, ELL Regional Instructional Specialist and Special Services Manager with the New York City Department of Education for 34 years.  She has extensive knowledge about bilingual program implementation, ESOL strategies and methodologies, ELL Compliance and supporting ELLs within the classroom setting.  Prior to coming to OCM BOCES, she served as an ELL Support Specialist in a consulting capacity also in New York City.  Having recently moved to the southern tier of New York State, Randy is very excited about the opportunity to support ELLs in the Mid-state region.

Maria Fenton - Teacher Trainer

Maria Fenton joins us after retiring from the Solvay School District as a World Language teacher. She has 30 years of teaching experience, speaks 5 languages, and is National Board certified. Maria is devoted to positively impacting student achievement. She is passionate about accomplished teaching, professional collaboration and reflective practice. Maria’s focus here at Mid-State RBERN will be to support districts with their World Language programs and the State Seal of Biliteracy. She will also be the lead trainer for the Syracuse delegation of the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute.


Cindy Seeley

Cindy Seeley - Office Manager

Cindy provides administrative assistance, oversight and support of budgeting and technology within Mid-State RBERN. Cindy has served OCM BOCES for over 10+ years. Prior to her role at Mid-State RBERN, Cindy served as an office manager and management liaison for the United States Postal Service and Bryant & Stratton.
