Teacher Leadership

While we have excellent teachers, they need an additional skill sets and content knowledge if they are going to effectively serve as coaches with their peers and help them provide rigorous and relevant instruction that enhances student success. We are also looking to support these excellent teachers who are aspiring teacher leaders. This program is designed to develop your excellent teachers into effective teacher leaders. The course allows participants to engage in action research related to authentic issues within your district while networking with others to broaden their perspectives and possibilities.

Through the School Improvement COSER, CNYLDP participants will engage in initiatives with colleagues from other school districts, bringing richer ideas that will impact their analysis and problem solving. The format allows feedback from facilitators and monthly presentations by current practitioners in the field.

The CNYLDP program supports aspiring teacher leaders. Its track includes monthly workshops and professional development which may include long term mentoring and coaching. Districts nominate candidates who must apply to the program. Typically, the successful candidate joins a cohort in the fall, although there are occasional opportunities available for the spring semester.
