Central Service Technician
Central Service Technicians are responsible for the procurement of surgical supplies and sterile equipment, and they provide support to all patient care services in a health care facility. They are responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, processing, assembling, sterilizing, storing and distributing the medical devices required for patient care. The 21-week training program will include the basics of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and infection prevention and control. Instruction also includes principles and methods of the sterilization process, decontamination and cleaning, processing, packaging, distributing, storing and inventory control of sterile goods, instruments, trays and equipment. All students perform a 6-week clinical component at local health care facilities.
