Regional SkillsUSA winners announced


Congratulations to our OCM BOCES students who participated in this year’s Regional SkillsUSA competition held last month. Hundreds of area Career and Technical Education students competed in contests including performance and written tests. Here are the tudents who placed in the competition:

  5. Kevin Nolan, a senior from the West Genesee CSD – 1st place in Carpentry
  6. Devin Shon, a senior from the Cazenovia CSD – 1st place in Auto Technology
  7. Alexis Townsend, a senior from the Baldwinsville CSD – 1st place in Medical Math
  8. Edwin Young, a senior from the Tully CSD – 1st place in Internetworking
  9. Evan Cronk, a junior from the Liverpool CSD – 2nd place in Carpentry
  10. Hailey Rawson, a junior from the Homer CSD – 2nd place in Basic Health Care Skills

  24. Samara Scott, a senior from the Cortland Enlarged City SD – 3rd place in First Aid/CPR
  25. Amber Stedwell, a junior from the DeRuyter CSD -3rd place in Employment Application Basic
Roughly 900 students from 18 high schools challenged their skills and knowledge in contests that included performance and written tests.
 
SkillsUSA is a national organization that connects high school and college students with employers of technical, skilled and service occupations. The state competition is scheduled for the end of April at the New York State Fairgrounds.
