CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Career Development is a half day program that offers students work-based, academic, and experiential learning.  Designed to introduce high school age students in grades 9-12 to the contemporary world of work, this program prepares students in meeting the CDOS Credential requirements, as well as earning high school credits.  The program focuses on helping students develop 21st century leadership skills including communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.  Students will learn about customer service, team work and leadership skills that will be practiced during their work-based learning experiences.

The key employability skill concepts emphasized in the program’s two subject areas are Retail & Food Service and Facilities & Grounds Maintenance.  Additionally, students have the opportunity to earn high school credits in Applied Science, Consumer Mathematics, Health, Nutrition & Wellness and Career & Financial Management.

The Career Development program is offered at our Irwin E. Henry Campus (Syracuse). Please contact Jackie Popkess at jpopkess@ocmboces.org for more information.
