WHAT THE RSSC DOES FOR SCHOOLS:
The Mid-State Regional School Support Center (RSSC) promotes the educational achievement of all students by assisting teachers and administrators in high-need schools and districts to meet New York State's student performance standards. The priority focus is student achievement in ELA and Mathematics in kindergarten through grade 12.
Center interventions are determined as a result of causal analysis and founded on scientifically based research. The Center offers coaching and mentoring opportunities to support improved student achievement with targeted districts and schools. The RSSC has developed a series of interventions such as on-site and /or regional workshops around research-based best practices, to assist schools in enhancing teacher effectiveness and sustaining professional development for school improvement. Other interventions include site visits around specific issues particular to that school, classroom modeling of best practices, and research based classroom management strategies. By providing focused, collaborative team building, and offering technical assistance relative to grants, state mandates, and data analysis to inform instruction, the RSSC builds local capacity to sustain school improvement.
