Non-District Specialist


What is the role of the Non-District Specialist?

The Non-District Specialist provides regional training, professional development, and technical assistance for special education and school improvement in the areas of Literacy, Behavior Supports and Special Education Instruction to selected school-age approved private schools.  Some examples are:

  • Training in the areas of Supporting Students with Mental Health Diagnoses, Literacy for Students with Severe Disabilities, Executive Function Skills, Mindsets, Avoiding Power Struggles, Training for Paraprofessionals, and Redirection, Feedback and Praise
  • Technical assistance in the areas of Literacy, Behavior and Special Education Instructional Practices
  • Technical assistance in the area of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Supporting select programs through the Quality Improvement Process for school improvement
