Pharmacy Technician
This program trains individuals, under the supervision of a pharmacist, to prepare medications, provide medications,related assistance to patients, and manage pharmacy clinical and business operations. Training for this "in demand" occupation will lead to the ability to take the Certified Pharmacy Technician examination. Coursework includes: Medical and Pharmaceutical Terminology, Drug Identification, Principles of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics, Pharmacy Procedures, Prescription Interpretation and Prescription Preparation. Patient Communication and Education, Safety Procedures, Record Keeping, Measurement and Testing Techniques, Pharmacy Business Operations, Logistics and Dispensing Operations and applicable standards and regulations are also taught. Successful program completion will lead to eligibility to take the Certified Pharmacy Technician Exam. Uniforms and a 4-week internship are included.
