STUDENT REFERRAL PROCESS
2012-2013

All new BOCES student referrals should have the attached form filled out (except GED and Day Treatment) and sent to the Special Education office at the Career Training Center, 4500 Crown Rd., Liverpool, NY 13090 to the Attention of: Karen Koch, Assistant Director. All Special Ed GED referrals should be sent to Beth Cooper at the Career Training Center 4500 Crown Rd. , Liverpool, NY 13090.All referrals should include: current IEP, Psychological Report, academic testing and the students most recent report card.  If there is a specific BOCES program that you are considering for the student please indicate this on the referral.

Referrals will be reviewed by Karen Koch. Karen will call the district and notify them of the program that BOCES believes is most appropriate to meet the student’s needs. The referral will be forwarded to the administrator of that program. The BOCES administrator will call the district and the family to schedule a screening for the student. Upon completion of a screening, should the BOCES administrator feel that their program is not a good match for the student they will notify the district and the paperwork will be forwarded to the administrator of the program that is felt to be most appropriate.

We are hoping that this procedure will help to reduce confusion and to ensure that students are placed in the most appropriate program in a timely fashion. We appreciate your assistance in following this protocol.

Thank you.
Rosanna Grund, Director of Special Education
