The Bilingual/ESL Technical Assistance Center staff assists school districts
in the Central New York region in the following areas:

Lep (Limited English Proficient) students identifiaction and assessment

Comprehensive educational program planning

Bilingual/ESL materials selection
-
State guidelines on the education of the LEP
-
Information and assistance on state and federal grant applications
-
In-service staff training
-
Translators
-
ESL Teacher identification
Twice a year the BETAC publishes a newsletter for educators and, annuallly,
an anthology of students art and written work. There is a lending libary
for Central New York teachers and administrators housed at Rodax, Builfing
7 on Molloy Road.
With the co-sponsorship of the New York State Education Department Department,
the BETAC conducts a statewide activity, the Parent Leadeship Insitute,
and supports the Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute which takes place
in Albany each year.
