AFRICAN DANCE & DRUM
**NEW**
Immerse yourself in a complete cultural
experience as you learn the movements of some
traditional African dances. Learn the
relationship the drum has to the dance and
begin to hear the language of the drum as it
directs the dance. Please be sure to wear
comfortable clothing and footwear.

EAST COAST SWING - BASIC
Big Band, Rock, Oldies, or Country -- no
matter what type of music you like you can dance
the Swing to it! Swing is faster, more
energetic, and done as a one count or two
count rock step. In this class, you will learn
basic steps, spins, and turns to get you up and
dancing to your favorite tunes. Partners are
recommended although not required.

FLYFISHING THE SALMON RIVER
New York's Salmon River may be the best river in
the continental U.S. to catch a large salmon
(20-30 lbs.) or a trophy-winning trout (10+
lbs.). The best way to catch these fish is on a
fly. This course will present the basics in
strategy, gear, rigging and presenting a fly, as
well as tying the perfect fly. The class will
include a trip (date to be decided in
class) to the Salmon River. (Transportation to
the trip is on your own.) Some supplies required
and discussed at first class.

FRESHWATER FISHING FOR BEGINNERS **NEW**
Fishing is a great outdoor activity. Learn more
about it in this quick course that will cover
the different types of freshwater game fish that
are available in New York, the
habitats and waterways where they are commonly
found, and the best method for catching them.
Different types of equipment,both artificial and
natural bait will be discussed as well as the
weather and how it affects fish and fishermen.
Some local fishing hotspots and the most
productive way to fish them will also be
covered. The final class will take place at one
of these hotspots with a big hand for the winner
of the catch of the day.

defend yourself in virtually any situation. This
class will focus on mental preparation to
prevent a possible dangerous
encounter as well as the physical skills
necessary to defend yourself in the event of an
emergency. This 4 week course will teach a
variety of techniques which are easy
and practical . It culminates in a final session
where participants can practice the techniques
they have been learning in a simulated situation
with Syracuse’s only BLUE MAXX. This suit allows
a course instructor to simulate real attacks
while participants defend with full force using
their
newly acquired knowledge of self defense. Taught
