SHADE
Shade gardening presents some
specific challenges for the perennial gardener
and requires careful attention to plant
selection. The choice of plant material will
greatly determine the success or failure of a
shade garden. Learn what plants will grow and
grow well in specific locations and what
preparation might be required to create a
fabulous shade
garden.

Learn how to
design, install and create a plant environment
for home or office. Practice using plants for
accent color, texture and movement in a room.
Discuss picking the right container or hanging
apparatus for your plants, and how to use your
house plants in a seasonal display. All
participants will leave with a starter plants to
grow in their own home. A supply fee of $17 is
payable to the instructor at class. plants, fee

backyard sanctuary is easily achieved if you know
how to design and build the perfect water garden
or pond. Learn about pond types, planning,
building code issues, filtration and aeration,
electrical lines and underground pipes. Begin to
draw and plan your own pond with or without a
waterfall. Discuss liners -- from what was and
what is now. Learn about site preparation,
installation, edging, water quality maintenance
and water chemistry, and of course, the fish. If
you're thinking of a backyard water feature, begin
here to learn the basics of design and planning. A
trip to see a few existing ponds may be
included.

Whether your
planning the landscape design for a new home,
thinking of making changes to an older landscape
plan, or simply wanting to work on a small new
addition to your outdoor living space -- this is
good place to start. Learn about the tools of the
trade, how to pace, measure and sketch a design,
soil conditions, watering requirements, pruning
and trimming, and hear the good bugs vs. bad bugs
story. Continue with information about plants,
plantings, edgings, mulch, the flower garden, and
fertilizers. You'll create a full color final
design complete with tree, bushes and plant names
along with cost estimates. Bring photos of the
spot in your yard you would like to work
on.
