the World Wide Web? Computer use and the rise of the Internet have
encouraged the already growing interest in genealogy, dramatically
changing the manner in which research is done. In this class, we will
explore some of the most popular on-line databases and Web sites that
can be used to search for names, find vital records, and locate other
materials for tracing one's roots. We will also review a few of the
computer software programs available for creating family trees and other
documents. Prerequisite: basic computer skills and familiarity with the
