BASICS OF BEADED JEWELRY DESIGN

BASICS OF JEWELRY WIRE WRAPPING **NEW**
Learn how to work with wire in your jewelry making and to understand the various types and gauges of wire that are common in the jewelry making world. Here is your opportunity to restore a chair while developing an appreciation for the beautiful heritage craft of sewing cane. Work on a small piece of your choice. Your pieces should be stained and varnished before caning. Please, no press-in or rush seats. Storage space is not available for your piece, so please be sure it can be carried back and forth from class. The caning materials can be purchased as a kit from instructor. CRAZY QUILT WORKSHOP **NEW**
The utilitarian history of the "Crazy Quilt" dates far back to colonial America when the quilts that were brought from Europe began to wear out and were repaired with bits of fabric from old clothing. As the patches began to dominate the quilt, something wonderful was happening-- the crazy quilt had been invented! Bring your scraps, as many as you'd like, and take the journey of years ago by designing your own piece of Americana. Please bring note-taking materials, 1 yard of muslin, a collection of scraps, 1/4 yard of 5 different fabrics, any embellishments you'd like (beads, laces, ribbons, trims) and basic sewing supplies including both light and dark thread. The weaving technique uses a simple loom and fabric scraps or "rags" and is a technique used for centuries by the Amish.
